In November, he made a much-acclaimed solo debut at Wigmore Hall. On invitation of the BBC, Gerhaher will perform Schubert’s Schwanengesang at the Wigmore Hall in October. Gerhaher began his collaboration with Helmuth Rilling with Bach’s St. John Passion followed by concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the Vienna Musikvereinssaal.
From 1998 to 2000, Christian Gerhaher was engaged at the Stadttheater Würzburg, where he performed the roles of Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Albert (Werther), and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte). This June, he is engaged to sing concert performances of Weber’s Freischütz with Capella Coloniensis (WDR) under conductor Bruno Weil, which will be recorded for Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.
