For nearly three decades, sound design relationships have led MARK GREY (Sound Designer) to premiere works by such artists as Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Péter Eötvös, and Terry Riley. He designed and toured with Kronos Quartet for nearly 15 years and has been a collaborator with John Adams for over 25 years. 

Operatic collaborations include the Metropolitan Opera (six productions since 2008). In 2002, he worked with the New York Philharmonic on the world premiere and recording of John Adams’ On the Transmigration of Souls, which won both the Pulitzer Prize in Music and multiple Grammys. For the Park Avenue Armory, he designed productions of the St. Matthew Passion with the Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and directed by Peter Sellars, and Circle Map with the New York Philharmonic in 2016. 

As a composer, Mark Grey has recently undertaken commissions from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. His opera Frankenstein premieres at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels during its 2018/2019 season.
