About this Artist
Bass NICHOLAS ISHERWOOD made his operatic debut at Covent Garden at the age of 25 as Lucifer in Stockhausen's Donnerstag aus Licht, and he has sung at Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elisabeth Hall, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Concertgebouw. Recent highlights include Plutone in Monteverdi's Il ballo delle ingrate at Angers Opera; Claudio in Handel's Agrippina at the Göttingen Festival; Satiro in Rossi's Orfeo at the Châtelet; Frère Léon in Messiaen's Saint François d'Assise; Lear in Hosokawa's Vision of Lear for the Munich Biennale; and Lucifer in the world premieres of Stockhausen's Montag, Dienstag, and Freitag at La Scala. He appeared in Boston Baroque's 2003 production of Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse.
