About this Artist
Mezzo-soprano ANNA KIKNADZE (Mother) was born in Tbilisi, where she graduated from the Tbilisi State Conservatory in 1999. She made her operatic debut in 1998 at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater as Lola in Cavalleria rusticana and later sang the title role in Carmen there. Her repertoire includes the roles of Maddalena in Rigoletto, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Polina, the Countess, and Governess in The Queen of Spades, and Amneris in Aida. In 1999 Kiknadze won the Special Prize for Artistry and Musicality at the Fourth International Rimsky-Korsakov Competition and since 2000 has been a soloist with the Kirov Opera.
