About this Artist
Azra King-Abadi has been working as a designer in the Los Angeles area for the past five years. She has worked for companies such as the LA Opera, Long Beach Opera, the LA Phil and Central City Opera, as well as designing for distinguished educational programs such as The Colburn School, USC Thornton Opera department and Cal Poly Pomona. She has also acted as the resident Assistant Lighting Designer at the LA Opera for the last five seasons.
Prior to moving to Los Angeles, she mainly designed costumes in her hometown of Montreal. She designed for exciting young companies such as Tableau D’Hote and Gravy Bath Productions. Azra trained at Concordia University, Montreal and later California State University, Long Beach where she received her MFA in Lighting Design.
