About this Artist
Bass MIKHAIL KIT (Boris) is an Honored Artist of Russia and has been a prizewinner at international competitions in Havana (1977) and Barcelona (1978). He graduated from the Odessa Conservatory in 1973, and was a soloist at the Perm Opera Theater from 1973 - 1986. He joined the Mariinsky Theater in 1986, and has since toured to the Edinburgh Festival, the Metropolitan Opera, Japan, Germany, France, Finland, Israel, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Lebanon. He has performed at theaters all over the world, among them La Scala (Milan), La Fenice (Venice), and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (London). In 1995, he sang the title role in the Mariinsky Opera's Prince Igor Royal Gala at the Royal Albert Hall. His Mariinsky Theater recordings include Boris Godunov, War and Peace, The Fiery Angel, and Prince Igor with Philips Classics.
