Korean American Youth Symphony

About this Artist

After many years of planning, the Korean American Youth Symphony (“KAYS”) was officially founded in 2006 and culminated in its inaugural concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in August 2006.  Although relatively young, the youth orchestra has made long strides since its inception, increasing membership, creating performance opportunities to play with talented soloists from around the world, and performing at world class music halls.  Performing several concerts a year, locally and abroad has given our students a platform to demonstrate their talents and given them a lifetime learning experience.

KAYS is comprised of students from elementary through high school students from across the greater Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Making its international debut at the Sungnam Art Center in South Korea in August 2008, KAYS was warmly received with open invitations for repeat engagements.  The orchestra plans to return for a mini tour of Asia in 2011.

KAYS was accepted to the LA Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Partners Program in 2009, and is indebted to its wonderful musicians and staff who have given us a great opportunity to learn, grow musically and be a part of this special program.
