About this Artist
SONJA KOSTICH (Ismene) was born in Korea and raised in Minnesota, where she received her early dance training with Loyce Houlton. She has danced with American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Zurich Ballet, and Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project. As a freelance artist she has most notably worked with Peter Sellars and Mark Morris in John Adams’ Nixon in China and Mozart’s Idomeneo. Her choreography credits include Sung Rno’s play Masks for the Miryang Performing Arts Festival in Korea. She has been a guest ballet teacher at Harvard, American Ballet Theatre’s Young Dancer Summer Program and Dance New Amsterdam in New York. Sonja is the co-director of OtherShore, which was invited to be the first artists-in-residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center to be fully produced through its presentation series. Her company is dedicated to the memory of her mother and father.
