PAUL LAZARUS is pleased to continue his long association with Stephen Sondheim. In 1983, he produced and directed "A Stephen Sondheim Evening" featuring Angela Lansbury, George Hearn, and Sondheim himself. That evening was recorded by RCA Records and received a Grammy nomination. Lazarus was also the associate director for the acclaimed "Follies in Concert" at Lincoln Center starring Carol Burnett and Barbara Cook. For National Public Radio, he has produced numerous documentaries exploring many facets of Sondheim's work including the award-winning two-hour celebration of Sondheim's 60th birthday, hosted by Lansbury.
Lazarus is a director and producer of theater, film, and television projects. He co-wrote and directed the feature film, Seven Girlfriends, starring Tim Daly and Mimi Rogers. For DreamWorks SKG, he voice directed the animated musical feature, Joseph, starring Ben Affleck. From 1990 to 1992, he served as the Artistic Director of the historic Pasadena Playhouse. Lazarus has directed over 80 plays and musicals
in such prominent theaters as the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Playwrights Horizons, the Manhattan Theater Club, the Actors Studio, La Mama ETC, and the Goodspeed Opera House, to name a few.
Since moving to Los Angeles, Lazarus has been directing many notable prime time television series, including Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Mad About You, LA Law, Melrose Place, Beverly Hills 90210, Grounded For Life, Murder She Wrote, and Dream On.
Lazarus is an executive board member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
