TELLY LEUNG (Angel) is thrilled to be making his Hollywood Bowl debut with Rent. His Broadway and national tour credits include Flower Drum Song (2003 revival, starring Lea Salonga), Stephen Sondheim’s Pacific Overtures (2005 revival), the role of Boq in Wicked (original Chicago company), and Rent (final Broadway company and Broadway tour). Other credits include the role of Song in M. Butterfly (Philadelphia Theater Company), Godspell (Paper Mill), Bernstein’s Mass (Carnegie Hall / Kennedy Center), Give It Up! (world premiere, Dallas Theater Center), Barnaby in Hello, Dolly! and Harold Bride in Titanic (The St. Louis Muny), Simon in Jesus Christ Superstar (Music Circus), Thuy in Miss Saigon (Pittsburgh CLO), and Lun Tha in The King and I (North Carolina Theater, starring Lou Diamond Philips).
Telly’s film and TV appearances include Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Tony Awards, and Good Morning America. He can be heard on the original cast recordings of Flower Drum Song and Pacific Overtures. Other recordings include Bernstein’s Mass (Grammy-nominated), Wall to Wall Stephen Sondheim - Live From Symphony Space, Dear Edwina, and The Broadway Boys.
Telly was born and raised in New York City, and holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. Next, he will be performing his one-man show, Who Loves Ya, Baby?, at the Magic Castle’s Cabaret at the Castle on August 12th at 8pm. Please visit tellyonline.net.
