Paul Livingstone

International performing artist PAUL LIVINGSTONE has studied and played sitar for the past 20 years in India and US. A disciple of the living legend Ravi Shankar, Livingstone is also a composer, band leader, educator and community activist in Los Angeles. He performs on sitar and unique fretless guitars of his own design, in addition to his focus in North Indian music he has also studied with master musicians of Persian, South Indian, African, Indonesian, Macedonian and Jazz music and plays creative new music blending ideas from diverse world traditions.

Paul Livingstone has played and recorded with a number of world music, jazz and popular artists including Swapan Chaudhuri, John Bergamo, Glen Velez, Kenny Burrell, Wadada Leo Smith, Geetha Bennett, Miroslav Tadic, the Liän Ensemble, Ozomatli, and Alanis Morissette. He composes creative world music for his group Arohi Ensemble and for film. He has self-produced three of his own CD projects, was on the faculty of Cal Arts for the past 5 years, and is the Artistic Director of the Sangeet School of World Music in North East Los Angeles.
