BARRY McGOVERN is regarded by many as one of the foremost exponents of the work of Samuel Beckett. In 2012, with Center Theatre Group, he played Vladimir opposite Alan Mandell’s Estragon in Waiting for Godot at the Mark Taper Forum, and in 2016 Clov in Endgame opposite Mandell’s Hamm at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. In 2014, his one-man Beckett show I’ll Go On, from Beckett's novels, also played at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Other Beckett roles include Estragon and Lucky in Waiting for Godot, Willie in Happy Days, and Krapp in Krapp’s Last Tape. On radio, he has directed All That Fall, played Henry in Embers (with the late Billie Whitelaw), Fox in Rough for Radio 2, and Words in Words and Music. Other one-man Beckett shows include Watt and, most recently, First Love.

He started his career at Ireland's Abbey Theatre. His TV work includes Game of Thrones, The Tudors, Dear Sarah, The Treaty, Vikings, Gift of the Magi, and Miracle at Midnight. His film credits include My Name Is Emily, Braveheart, Joe Versus the Volcano, Billy Bathgate, and Waiting for Godot.
