About this Artist

Founded in 2001, MenAlive, The Orange County Gay Men’s Chorus, has presented major concerts each year to thousands of fans in Southern California. The chorus has twice opened sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl for ABBA, the Concert; participated in multiple choral festivals both here in the United States and in Europe. In July of 2014, MenAlive performed two live performances at the Orange County Fair on the Hangar Stage. Invited to perform twice at the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza and Center for Dance and Innovation at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Eighteen years of innovative, high-quality shows have given MenAlive a national reputation as a first-class arts organization that delivers exceptional musical entertainment. Their repertoire encompasses a diverse range of musical styles, from Classical to Popular, Gospel to Broadway.

Performances included choral classics of Johannes Brahms and Morten Lauridsen, the stirring folksongs of Aaron Copland and Stephen Foster, and powerful Broadway melodies of Jerry Hermann and Stephen Sondheim. MenAlive has devoted entire concerts to some of the most popular artists such as ABBA, Queen, Elton John, and Madonna, and performed music written especially for the chorus.

The goal of MenAlive’s music is always to entertain, enlighten, and build bridges to the public at-large. By singing an eclectic mix, they ensure that there is something there for everyone.

MenAlive continues to pursue its mission, “to build bridges to the public at-large,” not only through remarkable singing, but also through service to other arts groups, non-profits, health service organizations, and the community at large. Several of the members have participated in giving back to the community by volunteering at local food banks.

Through these efforts, MenAlive makes a difference—no matter what the gender, color, race or sexual orientation of those they sing for or serve.

They strive to be the change they seek in this world, working toward and looking forward to the day when all people are accepted and affirmed for the uniquely gifted people they are.

MenAlive is pleased to participate in the progress of our society in recognizing and celebrating the unique gifts and talents of every individual. As representatives of the LGBTQ community, they seek to bring a message of joy, hope and reconciliation to both the gay community and the community at-large.
