Born in Alboraia (Valencia), JOSEP-MIQUEL RAMÓN (Manuel) took singing lessons at the Conservatorio de Valencia under Ana Luisa Chova and later with Aldo Baldin, Juan Oncina, and Felisa Navarro.
He is member of ensembles such as II Seminario Musicale under Gerard Lesne, and La Capella Real de Catalunya (under Jordi Savall), with which he has performed at the most prestigious European halls and festivals, as well as recorded on several occasions.
He has been invited by most of the leading Spanish symphony orchestras, and has also collaborated with international orchestras such as the Orchestra Santa Cecilia di Roma, Orchestra Nazionale de la RAI in Turin, the New York Philharmonic, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. He has worked under the baton of Harry Christophers, Robert King, Sir Neville Marriner, Plácido Domingo, Andrew Parrot, and René Jacobs, among others, and most of the best-known Spanish conductors.
His operatic repertoire contains titles like Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, La serva padrona by Pergolesi, Le nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberföte, and Don Giovanni by Mozart, La bohème by Puccini, L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti, La Cenerentola by Rossini, and El hijo fingido by Joaquín Rodrigo, among others. In his oratorio performances he has sung works by Handel such as Messiah, Judas Maccabeus, and Alexander’s Feast, Mozart’s Requiem, The Creation by Haydn, and Bach’s Johannes Passion, in addition to great symphonic works like Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
Josep-Miquel Ramón has appeared in several festivals such as the International Music Festival in Santo Domingo and the Festival Internacional Cervantino, as well as in seasonal concerts all over Spain and a tour in the United States and Israel under the baton of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos interpreting Manuel de Falla’s La vida breve.
