Recently completing a run of The Death of Klinghoffer as Molqi with Long Beach Opera, Alex Richardson returns to the west coast in his Los Angeles Philharmonic debut. A former Tanglewood Institute Fellow, Mr. Richardson sang last month with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in their presentation of Salome under the baton of Andris Nelsons. Career highlights include: Tom Buchanan (The Great Gatsby) at the Tanglewood Festival; Steuermann (Der fliegende Holländer) and Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Princeton Festival; Alfredo (La traviata) and the Duke (Rigoletto) with Festival de Belle-Île, France; and the title role (Werther) cover, Washington National Opera. Upcoming engagements include: a debut with Spoleto USA as Vanya (Kát’a Kabanová); concerts at Tanglewood this summer; the U.S. première in title role of Alemto by Franco Faccio with Opera Southwest; and the role of Edrisi in Szymanowski’s King Roger with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. As a roster member of the Marilyn Horne Foundation, he has sung recital residencies throughout America with On Wings of Song. He holds a B.M. from the University of Colorado, M.M. from The Manhattan School of Music and has been honored by the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation.
