Connie Shih

Pianist CONNIE SHIH was born in Canada. In 1993 she was awarded the Sylva Gelber Award for most outstanding classical artist under age 30. As a soloist, she has appeared extensively with orchestras throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. As a solo recitalist, she has made countless appearances in Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Shih has given chamber music performances with many world-renowned musicians. She appears regularly to great critical acclaim in recital with Steven Isserlis.

In addition to chamber-music appearances at Wigmore and Carnegie halls, she performs at the prestigious Bath Music Festival, Aldeburgh, Cheltenham, Weill Hall, and at the Kronberg Festival. She has collaborated with Susan Gritton, Tabea Zimmerman, and Isabelle Faust. Recent performances include appearances in Germany (including the Heidelberg Spring Festival and Brahmstage), the Cheltenham Festival, and a tour of Japan and the U.K., as well as a Naxos recording. She is also on faculty at the Casalmaggiore Festival in Italy.

Shih’s 2010/11 season included a tour of Japan with Steven Isserlis, a Wigmore Hall recital with Isserlis and Joshua Bell, and concerts in Canada and across Europe. Connie’s performances are frequently broadcast via television and radio on major stations in Canada, the U.K., and Germany, as well as on other various television and radio stations in North America and Europe.
