TERENCE BLANCHARD: The 47-year-old New Orleans-based trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and Blue Note recording artist has worked with major jazz artists and in his own groups since 1983. An accomplished film composer, Blanchard has collaborated on virtually all of Spike Lee’s films since they first worked together on 1989’s Do the Right Thing. His most recent scores were for Kasi Lemmons’ 2007 feature Talk to Me and Spike Lee’s 2008 feature Miracle at St. Anna. His most recent album release, in 2007, is A Tale of God’s Will (A Requiem For Katrina), a tribute to his native city and its residents.
