Cellist TANJA TETZLAFF recently won top prize at the Bremen Music Festival following a string of honors which began with first prize at the 1992 International Music Competition in Vienna. Her repertoire encompasses the standard works for cello, as well as many lesser-known contemporary concerti and chamber works. She has performed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra with Sir Yehudi Menuhin, the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra with Vladimir Fedoseyev, as well as the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Danzig Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic. She has also performed recitals throughout Europe, Australia, and Japan. Tanja Tetzlaff’s recordings include the Haydn cello concerti with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Schumann concerto with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, conducted by Heinz Holliger. A CD with solo Bach Suites, the solo Kodály sonata, and the Brahms Double Concerto with Christian Tetzlaff will be released in 2000.

Tanja Tetzlaff was born in Hamburg in 1973. From 1985 to 1991 she studied with Professor Bernhard Gmelin at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Hamburg and from 1991-1996 with Heinrich Schiff at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
