TIM WEIL (Music Director / Orchestrations) is thrilled to be able to perform Rent at the Hollywood Bowl with this exciting cast and new Rent “orchestra.” Most recently on Broadway, he served as conductor and arranger for Shrek The Musical, composed the show’s incidental music, and has just finished launching its first National Tour. Prior to that, Tim was the original Music Director, arranger, and current Music Supervisor of the Broadway and touring productions of Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical, Rent. For the film of Rent, directed by Chris Columbus, he contributed new arrangements, and served as vocal director for the film and soundtrack, as well as for the Radical Media live film version of Rent. He also served as producer, musical director, and orchestrator for the critically acclaimed film Camp (IFC, Jersey Films), and wrote an original song for the film. In the fall of 2007, Tim wrote and arranged a concert for the Library of Congress entitled American Creativity: The Composer-Lyricist Jonathan Larson, in celebration of Larson’s enshrinement in the permanent archives of the LOC. Tim also serves on the selection committee of the Jonathan Larson Foundation, which, with The American Theater Wing, has provided grants for countless lyricists and composers since 1997. He has been a music director, composer, and orchestrator for over 100 different productions in New York and worldwide, and his New York credits include Sally Marr and Her Escorts, starring Joan Rivers (Tony Award nominee); Jumpers, by Tom Stoppard (Tony Award nominee); and orchestrations for 10 Million Miles at the Atlantic Theater Company (2007 Drama Desk nomination – Best Orchestrations) and F******-A, by Suzan-Lori Parks (Obie nomination).

Tim has written, recorded, and performed original songs for Sheep in the Big City for The Cartoon Network, and Bear in the Big Blue House for Nickelodeon. He has numerous recording credits as keyboardist, arranger, and producer, including Adam Pascal’s debut CD, Model Prisoner, and Sherie Rene Scott’s Men I’ve Had, both for Shk-a-Boom Records, and Ina May Wool’s Crack It Open for Bang-Zoom Records. Other television credits include The Tonight Show, The Late Show With David Letterman, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, CNN Presents, CBS This Morning, and The Today Show.
