About this Artist
Soprano CAROLINE WORRA “is a singer to watch…She has quite a career ahead of her” (Pittsburgh Tribune). She made her European debut at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Sicily singing the role of Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress. She toured the nation with San Francisco's Western Opera theatre as Violetta in La Traviata and as Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus.
With New York City Opera, Ms. Worra has performed Amy in Little Women, Frasquita in Carmen, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and the Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel.
A recipient of the Richard F. Gold/Shoshana Foundation Career Grant, she sang Amy in Little Women and Mrs. Mueller/Katy Wendler/ Madame Kakonyi in The Good Soldier Schweik with Glimmerglass Opera. She will be returning to Glimmerglass in 2004 to sing Jenny/Haidee in The Mines of Sulphur.
Highlights among her other performed roles include Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Alice Ford in Falstaff, Gulnara in Verdi’s Il Corsaro, Musetta in La Bohème, Governess in The Turn of the Screw, Elle in La Voix Humaine, Just Jeanette in the world premiere of Too Many Sopranos, and the title roles in Agrippina, The Bartered Bride, Pelléas et Mélisande, and The Merry Widow.
