Gwen Wyatt Chorale

About this Artist

The GWEN WYATT CHORALE is a community choral group whose members represent various age ranges and occupations as well as ethnic diversity. The repertoire of the Chorale includes choral masterworks, choruses from operas, Broadway show tunes, various folk songs, and religious songs. However, the Chorale distinguishes itself in its interpretations of traditional spirituals, having traveled for several seasons with Jester Hairston. Recently, the Chorale performed for Pope John Paul II in Vatican City. In January 1999, the group sang in Carnegie Hall at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Concert and, in October 1999, it sang as part of the World Festival of Sacred Music – The Americas.

The Chorale’s founder/director, Dr. Gwendolyn Wyatt, has prepared adult choirs for performances in international festivals in Israel, Spain, Prague, and Budapest, and was chorus master for The Magic Flute at Operafestival di Roma.
