About this Artist
Adam Karelin is a composer, trombonist, and conductor based in Los Angeles. Since beginning composition study with Brett Banducci in 2015 he has participated in the Young Musicians Foundation Young Composers Program, the Sunset ChamberFest Young Composers Workshop, the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Associate Composer Program, and in the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, under the direction of Martin Amlin and Justin Casinghino, during the Young Artists Composition Program and the inaugural Electroacoustic Composition Workshop. He is currently pursuing a two-year fellowship with North Hollywood High School’s Symphony Orchestra. As a trombonist, Adam performs as principal trombone with the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Russell Steinberg, and as principal trombone of his school’s symphonic band, symphony orchestra, and jazz band.
In the spring of 2016 he debuted as conductor with his school’s Brass Ensemble and is currently the Drum Major of the Marching Band. In the fall of 2016, Adam was awarded a conducting internship with the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, through the spring of 2018.
