About this Artist

Sacha Feldman is a 17-year-old senior at Crossroads School For the Arts Sciences. Sacha first fell in love with composing at age 11. Inspired by the music of John Williams, Bernard Hermann, Aaron Copland and Igor Stravinsky, he started writing scores for films, three of which have been shown in concert at Crossroads. As a Sander’s Young Composing Fellow with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2017 and 2018, Sacha premiered two pieces written for the program. “Little Threads” premiered in Choral Hall in January 2018, and his second piece “Exploration of Insects” was performed in BP Hall in May 2018. His first chamber piece “Epique,” was performed in July 2016 at the Green Music Center in Sonoma at Shroeder Hall. He was one of the winners of the Academy of Scoring Arts competition for Live Read in March of 2017. In 2017 and 2018, Sacha was chosen for the Sunset Chamber Festival and the past two years he has premiered a new piece at USC’s Cammilleri Hall. During the summer of 2017, he attended Interlochen Center for the Arts in the composing program where 4 new pieces premiered. And this past summer he attended the Boston Conservatory composing intensive where 3 new pieces were performed. He studies composing with Ian Krouse at UCLA, Music Theory with Mary Ann Cummins and Warren Spaeth, and studies piano with Ming Tsu. Sacha has also enjoyed playing piano in the Crossroads Summer Jazz Workshop. An early high point at Crossroads was playing piano in the production of “A Chorus Line,” which toured homeless shelters and juvenile halls in the Bay Area.
