XiteLabs is the dynamic collaboration between iconic visual artist Vello Virkhaus and renowned content creator Greg Russell. Each with 20 years of experience running highly successful design firms, the two have teamed up to take immersive experiences to a new level.

A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Virkhaus has carved a prestigious niche in the entertainment world as one of the pioneers of live-performance visuals, and interactive, custom programmed experiences.

Virkhaus has produced some of the most successful and well-known immersive concert visuals and 3D projection mapped experiences, such as Amon Tobin’s ISAM, Blizzcon Starcraft events, NBC Heroes, The Skrillex Cell, The Krewella Volcano, Infected Mushroom Tours, and The Datsik Vortex. He is also a sought-after speaker and has presented at Big Sound Australia, ADE Beamlab, CutOut Festival Queretero, EDMBiz Las Vegas, Full Sail, Sound Cntrl, Live Design, LDI EDM Master Classes and the Kalamazoo Math & Science Center.

Russell earned dual degrees in both Neuroscience and Music from Colgate University. That two-hemisphere balance of brain science and myriad musical styles contributes heavily to the visual context of his original and commercial work – a strong mix of the technical and the abstract. An accomplished drummer and musician, Russell employs a deep knowledge of rhythmic and harmonic integration into all of his show-design artworks. Notable amongst the hundreds of professional projects completed by Russell include bespoke designs for the progressive band Rush, concert visuals for legends Kiss, Tame Impala, and numerous large format event content projects for GE, Microsoft, Verizon, Skechers, Live Nation, and Disney.

He enjoys sharing his experience with audiences of all ages and inspiring students to follow their dreams in art and music, and is a regular presenter at educational programs such as LDI, The Special Event, and Full Sail University.

By bringing their collective talent together at XiteLabs, Virkhaus and Russell are on the forefront of a burgeoning live art form that fuses the experimental with the fundamental, synesthesia between music and imagery, and science with the human touch. Their live shows, designed with their team of accomplished artists and technicians, incorporate everything from LED sculptures and breathtaking animation, to custom programming and show operation.

XiteLabs: A workshop where technology, art and beautiful music merge, collide and come together in bold new ways. It’s a winning formula for experiences that leave lasting imprints on audiences around the world.
