About this Artist
Apsara Kasiraman is a freshman at Stanford Online High School. She has been a student of the Colburn Community School for 8 years, where she studies composition with Michael McLean, piano with Rina Dokshitsky, violin with Henry Gronnier, orchestral conducting with Maxim Eskenazy, and music theory with Kathy Sawada. She has been awarded a Colburn merit scholarship for both piano and violin for 2018-19, and was a recipient of the merit scholarship for composition in 2017-18. She was awarded an honorable mention in the Luna Composition Lab’s Call for Scores in 2017. She has performed several of her own compositions at recitals at the Colburn School and accompanied Colburn faculty member Dr. David Young in a performance of her sonata for the double bass in 2017. She mainly draws musical inspiration from Gustav Mahler, John Williams, and Hans Zimmer.
