About this Artist
Apsara Kasiraman is a 14-year-old sophomore at Stanford Online High School. She studies composition with Jordan Nelson and piano with Rina Dokshitsky at the Colburn School. She also studies composition privately with Richard Danielpour. Her musical studies have included music theory, violin, and orchestral conducting. Apsara is a Colburn Merit Scholarship recipient for composition in 2017 and 2019, and for piano and violin in 2018. She was awarded an honorable mention in the Luna Lab’s Call for Scores in 2017. Apsara’s piece traction was performed at the Curtis Institute’s Summerfest in July 2019. Her composition Los Angeles was played by USC Thornton Edge in June 2019. An Ode to Ice and Fire was premiered by the Lyris Quartet in January 2019. Besides music, Apsara enjoys horseback riding. She has been a fellow in the LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program since 2018.
