About this Artist
Born in Granada, Spain (1988) Ramon completes his oboe studies in Granada (M. Quirós) and Rostock (G. Witt).
From 2003, Ramón joined for ten years the West-Eastern-Divan Orchestra, under Daniel Barenboim.
In September 2007, Ramon got a great success at the 56th edition of ARD International Music Competition in Munich, getting the rarely awarded 1st Prize (For oboe it was given only three times up to date) as well as all special prizes.
From then, Ramón has started an international career as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with orchestras such as: Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, Basel Symphony Orchestra, MDR Leipzig, NDR Hannover, Scottisch Chamber Orchestra, Wiener Kammerorchester, Münchner Kammerorchester, Zürcher Kammerorchester, Sao Paulo State Symphony, Japan Century Orchestra or Nagoya Philharmonic. And has performed for reknowned festivals such as: Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg, Rheingau, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, London Proms, Menuhin Festival Gstaadt, Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, Vancouver Recital Series, Mozartfest Würzburg, Lucerne Festival or Carnegie Hall Series.
Since 2008, He is Principal Oboist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, under Mariss Jansons and has worked with world known conductors like: Riccardo Muti, Sir Simon Rattle, Herbert Blomstedt, Sir Colin Davis, John Eliot Gardiner, Nikolaus Harnoncourt or Bernhard Haitink.
Ramón was named Rising Star Artist by the European Concert hall Organization for the 2010/2011 season, playing recitals on the main European concert halls.
He has recorded several solo CDs, obtaining twice the ECHO Klassik prize in Germany. (Newcomer of the year 2011 and Chamber music recording of the year in 2012)
He has held master classes for oboe in London Guildhall, Lyon Conservatoire, Toho Gakuen School, or Barcelona´s Liceo conservatory. Ramon is fellowship winner of the Borletti Buitoni Trust, London and got the Medal of Fine Arts by the Fine Arts Academy of his native Granada.
