JUDITH DOLAN has designed internationally for numerous companies, including Dublin’s national theater, the Abbey Theatre, Theatre Clwyd in Wales, The Acting Company, Washington D.C.’s Shakespeare Theatre, Goodman Theatre in Chicago, the Irish Theatre Company, London’s Menier Chocolate Factory, Houston Grand Opera, NYC Opera, Hartford Stage, Long Wharf Theatre, and the Old Globe Theatre, among others. In 2016, she received the Ruth Morley Design Award from the League of Professional Theatre Women in New York City.
Dolan has collaborated with director Harold Prince on many world-premiere productions on and off Broadway, including Candide (Tony Award), The Petrified Prince (Lucille Lortelle Award), and Grandchild of Kings. Other collaborations with Prince include LoveMusik (Drama Desk nomination) with music by Kurt Weill, as well as the award-winning musical Parade and the drama Hollywood Arms (by Carol Burnett and Carrie Hamilton).
Judith Dolan holds an M.F.A. in Costume Design and a Ph.D. in Directing and Design/Theatre History and Aesthetic Theory from Stanford University. She is a Distinguished Professor of Design and Directing in the Department of Theater and Dance at the University of California, San Diego.
