Jane Meenaghan

Jane Meenaghan (age 18) is a composer whose music frequently seeks to synthesize, recontextualize, and juxtapose diverse musical aesthetics and techniques in hybrid electroacoustic soundscapes. Jane has studied composition for three years under the tutelage of Ian Krouse at UCLA, Andrew Norman through the LA Phil Composer Fellowship, and Gity Razaz through Luna Lab. She has worked with ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, International Contemporary Ensemble, Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, Houston Symphony, American Youth Symphony, AMF Orchestra, Tanglewood Young Artists’ Orchestra, and Lyris Quartet, and has received top honors from competitions including ASCAP Morton Gould (Bergen Scholarship), National YoungArts, Avalon International, NFMC Junior Composers, NextNotes, National Young Composers Challenge, MTAC Composers Today, TME Composers, and ICEBERG Young Composers Awards.

In November 2020, Jane will debut at Carnegie Hall with a commission from the American Composers Orchestra for large ensemble and surround-sound live electronics. Other upcoming collaborations include performances by Brightwork newmusic at the Hear Now Festival, Third Millennium Ensemble, Unheard-of Ensemble, San Francisco Conservatory New Music Ensemble, members of the New World Symphony, International Contemporary Ensemble, and the Orlando Philharmonic.
