About this Artist

Born and raised in South Los Angeles, Jackelinne “Jackie” Rodríguez was a cellist at YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) for more than 10 years, graduating from the program in 2019. Participating in various music festivals such as YOLA National, Pacific Crest Music Festival, the Cello Biënnale in Amsterdam, and LA Phil tours, Jackie grew to love the idea of giving access to classical music to everyone, especially to students who grew up in underfunded communities. Learning to become an advocate for arts education everywhere, Jackie continues her cello lessons and now studies Public Ethnomusicology at the University of California, Los Angeles, in hopes of creating a musical environment where everyone is welcomed no matter who they are or what their background is.
