JOHN BOWAB’s credits as a director span the Broadway catalog, including credits for Call Me Madam for Reprise in 2000; the 1998 Lincoln Center all-star version of Sweet Charity; the original Charity starring Gwen Verdon (on which he was a producer); and production and/or direction for versions of Charity with Chita Rivera, Juliet Prowse, and Debbie Allen. A producer for Jerry Herman’s Mame, he directed Angela Lansbury in three additional tours, plus the Mames of Ann Miller, Janis Paige, Susan Haward, and others. Additional credits include the 1990/1991 Debbie Reynolds The Unsinkable Molly Brown tour; Maggie Flynn with Shirley Jones in New York; production and direction of the Town Hall versions of She Loves Me, starring Madeline Kahn; and Richard Kiley’s Knickerbocker Holiday.

Bowab has directed 140 productions on tour, including Lana Turner’s Forty Carats, Patricia Morison’s Pal Joey, Lois Nettleton’s Cole, Della Reese’s Same Time, Next Year, and An Evening with George Burns and Carol Channing.

He has directed more than 400 television episodes, including The Cosby Show, The Facts of Life, Bosom Buddies, Soap, Benson, and The Wayans Brothers; Jay Leno, Bob Hope, and The Tonight Show specials; and Gabe Kaplan’s HBO production of Groucho. Bowab is also principal director for All About Us for NBC Productions, airing in the fall of 2001.
