About this Artist
David Hernández is a 17-year-old classical guitarist, trumpeter, and composer based in Burbank, CA. He is currently a senior at John Burroughs High School with concurrent enrollment at Pasadena City College. David has arranged, recorded, and performed music for Whirlpool Corporation, the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, and Education Through Music-LA. David is very active in every facet of his High School’s arts programs. He has played trumpet in his school’s Wind Ensemble, marching band, and lead trumpet in the Vocal Music Association’s choir combo. He also has played electric guitar in the school’s upper division jazz ensemble and drama department’s pit orchestra, performing in multiple plays such as Chicago and West Side Story, which won the 2019 Jerry Herman Award for Best Orchestra. David studies classical guitar under Cuban guitarist and composer Yalil Guerra and classical composition with pianist and composer Dr. Jesse Wright-Fitzgerald. Aside from music, David enjoys baking in his free-time and studying pure mathematics. David is a 2020/21 fellow in the LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program.
