REID BRUTON (Don Bartolo), the voice of The Grinch on The Boston Pops’ Christmas CD, has appeared as a soloist with the LA Phil both at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl in performances including Stravinsky’s Renard, Philip Glass’ Koyaanisqatsi, and Puccini’s Tosca (conducted by Dudamel). Reid is a proud member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale with whom he solos regularly; at L.A. Opera, he is nearing his 100th production as a chorister, and he has also performed roles in productions including Salome, Billy Budd, Der Rosenkavalier, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Gianni Schicchi, Thaïs, Die Zauberflöte, Macbeth, Carmen, and La Bohème (conducted by Domingo).

An adept singer, Reid’s uniquely deep voice can be heard on over 150 major motion picture soundtracks, including all of the recent “Star Wars” movies, Us, Warcraft, Frozen, X-Men, Ice Age, 50 Shades of Grey, The Matrix, and Avatar. While recording the soundtrack for War of the Worlds, John Williams said of Bruton: “I’ve never heard notes sung that low!” His television credits include several episodes of Family Guy, The Simpsons, The Tonight Show, as well as The Academy Awards telecast. He has sung back-up vocals for Barbra Streisand, Adele, Lady Gaga, Andrea Bocelli, David Foster, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and 50 Cent.
