About this Artist
Ethan Chaparro is a 2022/23 fellow in the LA Phil Composer Fellowship. He is a 16 year-old junior at Long Beach Polytechnic High School who ultimately wants to become a film composer and tell stories through music. Ethan plays trombone in his high school’s top jazz band and euphonium in its wind ensemble. He has performed for various SCSBOA honor groups such as the Middle School Jazz All-Stars and the Middle School Symphonic Band. His compositions have been performed by the likes of many of the Tom Kubis Big Band as well as many of his school’s ensembles. In terms of role models, Ethan looks up to composers such as John Williams, Tom Kubis, Ludwig Göransson, and Michael Giacchino for inspiration and hopes to one day leave an impact on others just as these composers have done for him.
