Anthony León

About this Artist

American Tenor Anthony Leon was the 1st Prize winner and the Don Plácido Domingo Ferrer Prize winner for Zarzuela at the Operalia World Opera Competition in 2022. He was also one of the winners for the  Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition 2022.

Recent highlights include a return to the LA young artists programme for a second season where Anthony performed Don Ottavio Don Giovanni,. Other previous engagements include Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor, Spoletta in Tosca and Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro with Los Angeles Opera. Anthony has also performed Remendado in Carmen at Santa Fe Opera (where he was an Apprentice Artist) and Ernesto in Don Pasquale at the New England Conservatory. On tour with ensemble I Gemelli, Anthony sang Giove and Amphinome in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria and performed at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Arsenal Theatre, Metz and Victoria Hall in Geneva. Last season, Anthony was a part of the Vocal Residency program at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Salzburger Festspiele Young Singers Project. This season, Anthony will be performing with the Dutch National Opera in The Shell Trial and Beethoven 9  in concert with the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
