LEN CARIOU (Max von Mayerling) is an internationally recognized, award-winning actor. He is known on Broadway for his performances in Applause (Tony nomination, Theatre World Award), A Little Night Music (Tony nomination), and especially for his legendary Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Tony Award, Drama Desk Award). Other Broadway credits include Nightwatch, Cold Storage, Teddy and Alice, Dance a Little Closer, The Speed of Darkness, The Dinner Party, and Proof.

Off-Broadway appearances include William O. Douglas in Mountain and Ernest Hemingway in the tour de force, one man show Papa, as well as A Sorrow Beyond Dreams and Measure for Measure. His regional credits comprise a list of theaters and roles across the continent, including Traveler in the Dark at the Mark Taper Forum, the title role in Macbeth at Toronto Arts Productions, and The Anastasia Game at Merrimack Repertory Theatre. He recently finished an acclaimed L.A. run of Arthur Miller's All My Sons.

He is the former Artistic Director of the Manitoba Theatre Center and former Associate Director of the Guthrie Theatre. Cariou was involved in the development of two new musicals: Paramour, a reworking of the play Waltz of the Toreadors by Joe Masteroff and Howard Warren, and Himself, based on the life of James Joyce, by Shelia Walsh and Jonathan Brielle.

His many television appearances include recurring roles as Michael Haggerty on Murder She Wrote and Sgt. Swift on Swift Justice, as well as guest star appearances in series such as Law and Order, The Practice and The West Wing. Feature film credits range from One Man (Genie Award) and The Four Seasons to the box office smash Executive Decision, Lady in White, Thirteen Days, About Schmidt, Secret Window, The Greatest Game Ever Played, The Boynton Beach Bereavement Club, and The Onion Movie. His voice narration for the documentary film The Jonestown Flood helped win the film an Academy Award.
