Near the end of his life and in contemplation of his death, Charles Gounod set to music his own text, commonly titled with the French word “Repentir.” The English translation of this song, “O Divine Redeemer,” is the source for the title of the recording by soprano Christine Brewer and organist Paul Jacobs that this program is based on.
