About this Piece

Although known primarily as an opera composer, Pucini also wrote other instrumental and vocal music that has withstood the test of time. His setting of the familiar Marian antiphon Salve Regina is a work that may not have been intended for publication, but was nonetheless published posthumously. Its harmonic shifts and sweeping melodic movement are unmistakably consistent with his rapturous operatic style.
