About this Piece

Havana is known as the city of columns, and the historic section of the city has many tall columns sometimes eroded by the passage of time, allowing us to see the light coming through the eroded areas. Also, a city full of music; one can experience different styles of music going from one neighborhood to another. Since everyone loves music, music of many different styles flows out of all their open windows. These sound and visual images were the sources of inspiration for this piece. —Ileana Perez Velázquez
