About this Piece

When he was only 17 years old, Oreste Ravanello (1871-1938) became the organist of the official choir at the San Marco Basilica in Venice. He taught organ at the Venice Conservatory and was also director of the Cesare Pollini Musical Institute in Padua.

A prestigious performer and active innovator of Italian religious music according to the ideas expressed by the Cecilian Movement, he left a great number of organ compositions for either liturgical or concert use. Adorazione, an intense and expressive piece, is inspired by the contemplation of the Holy Mystery and perfectly represents the musical character of his organ works.
