    WHAT:

    Legendary violinist Midori together with her long-time colleague Robert McDonald perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Sunday, November 21, at 7:30 p.m., in a recital featuring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Béla Bartók, Johann Sebastian Bach, George Crumb and Karol Szymanowski. The performance is part of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s 2010/11 Colburn Celebrity series, which features some of the world’s leading virtuosos.

    Midori is recognized not only for the evolution and scope of her 28-year career as one of the most dazzlingly gifted performers before the public, but increasingly for the prescient and innovative community engagement initiatives to which she devotes a substantial amount of her energies and resources worldwide on an ongoing basis.

    Robert McDonald, with whom Midori has performed and recorded for nearly two decades, has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America and the Far East. His discography includes recordings for Sony Classical, Vox, Bridge, Musical Heritage Society, ASV and CRI.

    Future recitals for the 2010/11 Colburn Celebrity recital series season include: bass-baritone Bryn Terfel in his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut with pianist Malcolm Martineau (November 22, 2010); pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard (December 1, 2010); violinist Itzhak Perlman (January 25, 2011); pianist Simon Trp?eski (February 22, 2011); pianist Yefim Bronfman (March 9, 2011); and flutist Sir James Galway and the Emerson String Quartet (March 14, 2011).

    Tickets ($38 - $99) are on sale now at the Walt Disney Concert Hall Box Office, online at LAPhil.com, or via credit card by phone at 323.850.2000. When available, choral bench seats ($18) will be released for sale to selected Philharmonic, Colburn Celebrity Series, and Baroque Variations performances beginning at noon on the Tuesday of the second week prior to the concert. A limited number of $10 rush tickets for seniors and full time students may be available at the Walt Disney Concert Hall box office two hours prior to the performance. Valid identification is required; one ticket per person; cash only. Groups of 12 or more may be eligible for special discounts for selected concerts and seating areas.
