Celebrating the holiday season New Orleans-style, Aaron Neville brings his signature vibrato and unique voice to Christmas carols, R&B favorites, classic pop tunes and songs from his forthcoming album, My True Story, for a special one-night-only performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 8:00 PM.
Neville’s annual Christmas Celebration tour begins on December 1 in Robinsonville, Mississippi and culminates at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and will be the first opportunity for fans to hear selections from the new album, My True Story, set for release on January 22nd. The album, his debut for EMI’s Blue Note Records, finds Neville revitalizing some of his favorite songs from the doo-wop era and beyond, including “Tears on My Pillow” and “Under the Boardwalk,” and performing them in his inimitable vocal style. The album was produced by the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and Blue Note Records President Don Was, and features a top-flight rock & roll band, led by the distinctive guitar work of Richards himself. Other featured musicians include Greg Leisz on guitar (Beck, Sheryl Crow), Benmont Tench on organ (founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), George G. Receli on drums (Bob Dylan), and Tony Scherr on bass (Bill Frisell, Norah Jones).
In October, Neville started the charitable season early by performing at the annual Gala for The Doe Fund, a New York nonprofit organization that helps formerly homeless men and women achieve independence and self-sufficiency. The Gala was dedicated to the formal expansion of Operation Opportunity, a social services and transitional employment program catering to the needs of returning veterans.
Over the past five decades, Aaron Neville’s unmistakable voice, familiar to millions of fans, has energized concert halls worldwide. Since his first chart success with the #1 single "Tell It Like It Is,” and through his work with the musical dynasty known as the Neville Brothers, Aaron has remained a soulful musical force for over 50 years.
