  • ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY – THE STREISAND SONGBOOK AT WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL
  • Feb. 4, 2013
  • Program Also Features Special Cameo by Acclaimed Lyricist and Songwriter Alan Bergman

    SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2013, AT 7:30 PM

WHAT: Ann Hampton Callaway, one of the leading champions of the Great American Songbook, brings the Los Angeles debut of The Streisand Songbook to the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage, Sunday, February 10, at 7:30 pm. The special evening features Callaway singing timeless classics from five decades of Barbra Streisand’s multi-faceted career, including “People,” “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” “Evergreen,” and “Cry Me a River.” The lyrics of the acclaimed team of Alan and Marilyn Bergman will also be featured during the concert, and Alan Bergman will make a special cameo appearance to share stories about the years of collaboration he and his wife shared with Ms. Streisand, as well as to perform some cherished songs. Callaway is also joined by an all-star trio: Christian Jacob on piano, Trey Henry on bass, and MB Gordy on drums.

Callaway’s compositions have been on six of Streisand’s albums, including “I Dreamed of You,” which Streisand sang to James Brolin at their wedding. When The Streisand Songbook opened its smash sold-out run at New York’s nightclub 54 Below in September of 2012, it was praised for its “swinging fairy tale magic” by The New York Times, and hailed as “personal, moving and arrestingly musical,” in the Wall Street Journal. The show was honored with two BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Awards for “Cabaret Show of the Year” and “Best Tribute Show.”

The concert is the second of three in the LA Phil’s 2012/13 Songbook series. The remaining event in the series features Max Raabe & Palast Orchester (April 10).

Ann Hampton Callaway’s gifts as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress, educator, TV host and producer have given her one of the most unique careers in music today. She’s written over 250 songs including the Platinum Award-winning hits for Barbra Streisand “At the Same Time” and “I've Dreamed of You.” Ann has recorded 12 solo CDs including her latest celebrated Telarc release At Last and is a guest artist on over 40 CDs.
