Tuesday, June 13, at 8:00PM
Los Angeles, CA (April 12, 2017) - The Los Angeles Philharmonic today announced the cast for the presentation of Lou Harrison's Young Caesar on Tuesday, June 13, at 8:00PM, at Walt Disney Concert Hall. In celebration of what would have been the late composer's 100th birthday (May 14), experimental opera producer/director, and the LA Phil's Artist-Collaborator, Yuval Sharon directs Harrison's sublime and sinuous, gamelan-inspired depiction of Caesar's love for another man, before his rise to power and fame.
Leading the LA Phil New Music Group in the one-night-only performance is conductor Marc Lowenstein. The cast includes Bruce Vilanch (narrator), Adam Fisher (Caesar), David Adam Moore (Nicomedes), Nancy Maultsby (Julia), Delaram Kamareh (Cornelia), and Timur Bekbosunov (Dionysus), and also features dancers, along with men of the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Young Caesar is part of the LA Phil's 2016/17 Green Umbrella series, an innovative and unique series of new music overseen by LA Phil Creative Chair John Adams.
