Los Angeles, CA (March 20, 2018) - The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association today announced updates to the Hollywood Bowl 2018 summer season, including the first-ever Norteño at the Bowl! with Los Tigres del Norte on September 15; BADBADNOTGOOD added to the bill on June 17; David Newman conducting the LA Phil in the first half of the performances on August 31, September 1 and September 2; and Bonerama with special guest Erica Falls added to the Fireworks Finale performances on September 7, 8 and 9.

Norteño at the Bowl! on September 15 will feature Los Tigres del Norte headlining the Bowl's first-ever concert dedicated to Northern Mexico's música norteña. They will perform with orchestra, including all-star musicians from the LA Phil's Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA), to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Joining the bill are Lalo Mora and Rosendo Cantú y sus Cadetes De Linares

Los Tigres del Norte - who originated in Rosa Morada, Mocorito, Sinaloa, Mexico, and moved to San Jose, CA in the late 1960s - are known for their pioneering socio-political ballads, or corridos. The seven-time Grammy-winning group is recognized for turning norteño into an internationally known genre by modernizing the conjunto norteño form - which features accordion, bajo sexto, saxophone, bass and drums - and infusing it with bolero, cumbia, rock rhythms, and waltzes. Los Tigres del Norte is comprised of Jorge Hernández (director, lead vocals), Hernan Hernández (electric bass, vocals), Eduardo Hernández (accordion, saxophone, bajo sexto, vocals), Luis Hernández (bajo sexto, vocals), and Óscar Lara (drums).

On June 17, BADBADNOTGOOD will join the bill featuring Flying Lotus and Little Dragon to kick off the 2018 KCRW's World Festival series. BADBADBADNOTGOOD is the talented young quartet of Matthew Tavares (keys), Chester Hansen (bass), Alex Sowinski (drums), and Leland Whitty (saxophone) whose two albums, 2014's III and 2016's IV, showcase their genre-bending sound that encompasses jazz improvisations, lush ballads, kraut rock, and futuristic hip-hop tinged rhythms.

On August 31, September 1, and September 2, conductor and film composer David Newman will return to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the first half of all three John Williams: Maestro of the Movies performances. John Williams will lead the second half of these performances, celebrating the 40th anniversary of his first appearance at the Bowl.

The Fireworks Finale: Harry Connick, Jr., 300th Birthday Celebration of New Orleans performances on September 7, 8 and 9 will open with Bonerama, the 20-year-old powerhouse touring band which has helped to cement the sound of the trombone in present-day New Orleans music culture, joined by special guest, vintage soul artist Erica Falls

Today, Tuesday, March 20, "Five-or-More" packages become available. "Five or More" packages allow for a customized season. Choose any five concerts, get the best available seats, and enjoy a sixth concert for free. Find more information at www.hollywoodbowl.com/5ormore

    About the Hollywood Bowl

One of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world, with a seating capacity of nearly 18,000, the Hollywood Bowl has been the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its official opening in 1922 and plays host to the finest artists from all genres of music, offering something for everyone. It remains one of the best deals anywhere in Los Angeles; to this day, $1 buys a seat at the top of the Bowl for many classical and jazz performances. In February 2018, the Hollywood Bowl was named Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue for the 14th year in a row at the 29th Annual Pollstar Awards and was awarded the Top Amphitheater prize at the 2017 Billboard Touring Awards. For millions of music lovers across Southern California, the Hollywood Bowl is synonymous with summer.
