LA Phil 100 x CicLAvia, a Massive, Free, Eight-Mile Street
Festival in Celebration of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s
100th Anniversary

Los Angeles, CA (July 12, 2018) – The Los Angeles Philharmonic released today the line-up of artists and the route map for Celebrate LA!: LA Phil 100 x CicLAvia, a free, daylong street festival connecting Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, on Sunday, September 30, 2018 starting at 9AM. This unprecedented community event, presented in partnership with CicLAvia and Community Arts Resources (CARS), brings the LA Phil out of its venues and into the streets, as a gift to the city, and as a showcase of its creative spirit. The eight-mile long street party will feature 1800 performers – musicians, dancers, and visual artists, the vast majority of which are from L.A. – with live shows, food, and family activities intersecting throughout the entire route.

The eight-mile route will be transformed into an auto-free zone, where all are welcome to walk, run, skate, scoot, bike, and wander. It has no starting or ending point, and participants can join in anywhere they like. Any form of non-motorized transportation can be utilized, which includes walking, biking, wheelchairs, skateboard, and strollers. All ages are encouraged to attend.

There will be six major hubs along the route featuring performance stages, art installations, food trucks, screen-printing, kid-friendly activities, dancing, and live music from LA’s best musicians: Walt Disney Concert Hall (Grand Avenue between 1st Street and 3rd Street), MacArthur Park (Park View Street between Wilshire Boulevard and 6th Street), Koreatown (Liberty Park – Wilshire Boulevard between Serrano Avenue and Oxford Avenue), Melrose (Melrose Avenue at Windsor Boulevard), Hollywood (Vine Street between Hollywood Boulevard and Yucca Street), and the Hollywood Bowl (Kagan Patio).

Street closures for Celebrate LA!: LA Phil 100 x CicLAvia:

• Grand Avenue between 1st Street and Wilshire Boulevard
• Wilshire Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Western Avenue
• Western Avenue between Wilshire Boulevard and Melrose Avenue
• Melrose Avenue between Western Boulevard and Vine Street
• Vine Street between Melrose Avenue and Yucca Street.

There will be no closure of Highland Avenue. Shuttles between the Hollywood hub and the Hollywood Bowl will run at regular intervals throughout the day.

The September 30 festivities culminate in LA Phil 100 at the Bowl, a free community concert at 7PM, featuring Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and just announced special guests Kali Uchis, Herbie Hancock, and YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles). Additional artists and more information on how to obtain tickets will be announced on August 20.

In its Centennial year (September 2018 through October 2019) the LA Phil is inviting people from Los Angeles and around the world to join them in envisioning a future that music can help create.
