Guest conductor Bernard Labadie leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic and soloist Martin Chalifour in a gripping all-Mozart program devoted to three of the composer's greatest masterworks as the Tuesday and Thursday classical series continues August 26 and 28, at 8 p.m. at the Hollywood Bowl.

The program opens with Mozart's Symphony No. 34, a three-movement work that bristles with energy and ideas. Violinist Martin Chalifour joins the Philharmonic and Labadie to perform Mozart's deceptively poised Violin Concerto No. 3 that carries a density of thought beneath its surface. The Philharmonic aptly concludes the concert with Mozart's renowned final symphony, the Symphony No. 41, "Jupiter."

Canadian conductor BERNARD LABADIE is a specialist in music of the Baroque and Classical eras. He is best known for his work with the chamber orchestra Les Violons du Roy and the choir La Chapelle de Québec, both of which he founded and has toured with extensively. A frequent guest conductor with symphony and chamber orchestras across Canada and around the world, Labadie is also interested in opera, and since 1994 has been the artistic and music director of Opéra de Québec. He also conducts for the Opéra de Montréal and Opera Lyra in Ottawa. He makes his Hollywood Bowl debut with these concerts.

MARTIN CHALIFOUR began his tenure as Principal Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic with the 1995/96 season. Before coming to Los Angeles, Chalifour joined The Cleveland Orchestra in 1990 as Associate Concertmaster and later held the position of Acting Concertmaster for two seasons. Chalifour appears frequently as a soloist and in recital, and he has toured with chamber ensembles throughout North America and Europe. He regularly performs in a number of summer music festivals including San Diego's Mainly Mozart Festival and Florida's Sarasota Music Festival. Born in Montreal, Canada, Chalifour graduated at the age of 18 with a unanimous First Prize from the Montreal Conservatory, and is a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music. Chalifour last appeared as soloist at the Bowl in 2002.
