    Assistant Conductor Yasuo Shinozaki leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic on Tuesday, September 9, at 8 p.m. to open the final week of the Hollywood Bowl's classical series. The evening's concert includes works by Mozart and Mahler and features the orchestra's Principal Clarinetist, Michele Zukovsky, as soloist. The program opens with Zukovsky performing Mozart's Clarinet Concerto and concludes with Mahler's bold Symphony No. 1, "Titan."

    YASUO SHINOZAKI is currently Assistant Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Shinozaki regularly leads the Philharmonic in its community concert series and in the Toyota Symphonies for Youth programs. Continuing to work in a wide range of repertoire with orchestras throughout Japan including the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra and Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Shinozaki has also conducted the Helsinki Philharmonic as well as the Turku Philharmonic. Shinozaki made his opera debut in 1993 with The Marriage of Figaro in Tokyo and has since conducted at several opera houses in Japan. Shinozaki completed his conducting studies at the Vienna Musikhochschule with Leopold Hager and has also worked with Seiji Ozawa and Bernard Haitink at Tanglewood. Shinozaki last appeared at the Hollywood Bowl in 2002.

    MICHELE ZUKOVSKY is Principal Clarinetist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and has appeared frequently as a soloist with the Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl and at the Music Center. She collaborates with a number of chamber ensembles, most notably the Angeles and St. Petersburg String Quartets. She has appeared in New York with Concerts at the Y, Ravinia, Lincoln Center, and "Mostly Mozart" ensembles. Zukovsky tours worldwide as a chamber musician and soloist, and she gives master classes throughout the world. She is currently on the faculty at the University of Southern California. She studied clarinet with her father, Kalman Bloch, a former principal with the Philharmonic. Zukovsky last appeared as soloist at the Bowl in 1991.
