  • FREE PERFORMANCES & INTERVIEWS BEFORE CONCERTS AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL WEDNESDAYS, THURSDAYS, AND SUNDAYS

Series Includes Jazz & World Music Groups, Dance Lessons, And Interviews With Musicians

This season, Backbeat Live, a series of pre-concert events at the Hollywood Bowl, will offer live performances by a wide array of musical groups, salsa, waltz, and swing dance lessons, as well as one-on-one interviews with performers prior to their appearance onstage. Backbeat Live events take place on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, one hour prior to concert time in the Patio area, adjacent to the Bowl Museum, and are free. Each performance or interview previews the music onstage that evening. The series is presented as a part of the educational programs of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, which operates the Bowl.

"Backbeat Live events are a great opportunity for people to enjoy a more intimate music experience before attending Bowl concerts. The performances, interviews, and discussions are aimed at broadening and deepening the performances on the Bowl stage," remarks Llewellyn Crain, director of educational initiatives for the Philharmonic Association. "The setting is casual, comfortable, and fun."
