About this Performance

His futuristic outlook and outrageously fluid bass-playing have long made Thundercat a staple of the LA scene, and since stepping into his own as a singer-songwriter, he’s shown he can communicate grief, mourning, love, and joy with the same complexity he brings to his compositions—leading to his 2021 Grammy win for Best Progressive R&B Album. LA beat scene wizard Flying Lotus’ name is synonymous with creative innovation, whether he’s working on Grammy-nominated albums by Kendrick Lamar and Thundercat, assembling his own studio albums, or serving as producer and composer for Netflix’s Yasuke and Adult Swim. His latest, Flamagra, was described as “artful collisions of jazz, J Dilla-inspired beats, West Coast G-funk, and psychedelic soul.” This free concert is Thundercat and Flying Lotus’ first live performance since the two won the 2021 Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album for Thundercat’s It Is What It Is.

This concert is invite-only for frontline and essential workers. If you've received an invite, click here to log in to your account.
