LOS ANGELES PHILHARMONIC ASSOCIATION TO PRESENT 2014 PLAYBOY JAZZ FESTIVAL
36th Annual Playboy Jazz Festival
June 14-15, 2014 at the Hollywood Bowl
Hosted by George Lopez
Los Angeles, CA (December 4, 2013) – The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association will present the 36th annual Playboy Jazz Festival June 14-15, 2014, at the Hollywood Bowl. As always, the Festival will feature the emerging generation of jazz artists as well as superstars of the genre. George Lopez will host the event, marking the second year of his involvement with the Festival after taking over from Bill Cosby in 2013.
“The Playboy Jazz Festival and the Hollywood Bowl have enjoyed a thriving partnership, and we are fortunate to integrate this tradition into our programming, underscoring the commitment of the LA Phil to the jazz genre,” remarked LA Phil President and CEO Deborah Borda. “We are thrilled to continue working with FestivalWest to produce this iconic event.”
“We could not be happier to be presented by the LA Philharmonic,” said Richard S. Rosenzweig, President Emeritus, Playboy Jazz Festivals. “It feels like a natural evolution of the wonderful partnership we’ve shared over the past 35 years. The LA Phil’s dedication to jazz as an art form is undeniable, and we’re delighted to become a member of the LA Phil’s family.”
The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, under the vibrant leadership of Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, presents an inspiring array of music from all genres – orchestral, chamber and Baroque music, organ and celebrity recitals, new music, jazz, world music and pop – at two of L.A.’s iconic venues, Walt Disney Concert Hall (www.laphil.com) and the Hollywood Bowl (www.hollywoodbowl.com). The LA Phil’s season at Walt Disney Concert Hall extends from October through May, and throughout the summer at the Hollywood Bowl. With the preeminent Los Angeles Philharmonic at the foundation of its offerings, the LA Phil aims to enrich and transform lives through music, with a robust mix of artistic, education and community programs.
